Product care
  • The eraser is replaceable — slide the eraser and clip out of the ferrule, fit a new eraser into the clip and push it back in.
  • The same clip lets you extend a part-worn eraser rather than replace it.
  • Sharpen with a long-point sharpener to get the point the core is designed for.
  • Snapping lead when sharpening usually means a dull blade, not a faulty pencil.
  • Store pencils flat or point-up in a cup rather than loose in a bag.

Blackwing graphite grades run Matte (softest) → Pearl → 602 → Natural (firmest).

  • Matte: soft graphite — bold shading, drawing and music notation
  • Pearl: balanced graphite — softer than 602, firmer than Matte
