The eraser is replaceable — slide the eraser and clip out of the ferrule, fit a new eraser into the clip and push it back in.
The same clip lets you extend a part-worn eraser rather than replace it.
Sharpen with a long-point sharpener to get the point the core is designed for.
Snapping lead when sharpening usually means a dull blade, not a faulty pencil.
